Keith Haring
26 x 19 in (each)
Ludo 1–5 Complete Portfolio (Littmann pp. 45–47) is a portfolio of five lithographs created by Keith Haring in 1985. Drawing its title from the ancient board game, the series explores themes of play, movement and transformation through a style that combines some of Haring's most recognisable motifs with more imaginative and experimental imagery.
Across the portfolio, Haring introduces a cast of hybrid creatures, abstract forms and animated figures rendered in bold red and black. While each lithograph functions as an individual work, together they form a cohesive series united by rhythm, energy and a sense of visual invention. The works demonstrate Haring's ability to balance clarity and complexity, creating images that are immediately accessible while rewarding closer examination.
The Ludo series was produced during a key period in Haring's career as his work gained increasing international recognition through major exhibitions, museum presentations and print projects. Executed as lithographs, the works preserve the spontaneity and directness of his drawing style while showcasing the graphic strength that made his imagery instantly recognisable.
