Lucky Strike 1 (Littmann P. 77) by Keith Haring places the smoker at the centre of the piece and explores the relationship between consumer and product through one of the most recognisable cigarette brands of the twentieth century. A striped figure exhales curling ribbons of smoke beneath a prominently displayed Lucky Strike packet placing the brand, the art and the action at the centre of the piece.

Rather than treating the cigarette packet as a simple object, Haring integrates it into a larger scene populated by movement, colour and character. The figure's exaggerated eyes, animated posture and flowing smoke transform an everyday act into a highly stylised image, reflecting the artist's interest in the symbols and habits that shaped urban life during the 1980s.

Lucky Strike 1 is built around strong contrasts between green, red, blue and orange, with the Lucky Strike logo functioning as an immediate visual anchor. Haring's bold outlines and simplified forms give the work the same confidence and clarity found throughout his most recognisable imagery while introducing a subject rooted firmly in contemporary consumer culture.
