Untitled (Man on Dolphin) by Keith Haring depicts a radiant figure astride a leaping dolphin, surrounded by a crowd of celebrating figures below.

The central figure rides the dolphin with arms raised in triumph, their body crowned with the artist's characteristic radiating lines that suggest divine energy or enlightenment. Below, a gathering of figures emerges, their arms stretched upward in apparent celebration or worship of the airborne pair.

The dolphin, long associated with wisdom, protection, and safe passage in classical mythology, here becomes a vehicle for transformation and elevation. The work reflects Haring's interest in ancient cultures and their symbolism, particularly following his travels to Europe and exposure to archaeological imagery.

Produced a year before Haring established his Pop Shop in SoHo, this work anticipates his later exploration of accessible art forms while maintaining the sophisticated symbolic content that marked his gallery pieces. The mythological subject matter places Untitled (Man on Dolphin) within a select group of works from 1987 that demonstrate Haring's ability to compress complex spiritual and cultural references into his direct style, creating an image that functions both as contemporary art and timeless allegory of human aspiration.
