Pop Shop II (D) (Littmann P. 97) by Keith Haring shows two elongated pink figures joined in a looping embrace, their bodies curving around one another to create a single continuous form.

Unlike many of Haring's works that focus on individual figures or larger groups, this image centres on a relationship between two bodies. Their extended necks and intertwined forms create a sense of closeness and reciprocity, while the surrounding motion marks suggest an ongoing exchange of energy between them. The figures appear to support one another, transforming two separate bodies into a unified image built around connection and balance.

Themes of human relationships run throughout Haring's work. Whether depicting friendship, community, love or collective action, he frequently reduced complex emotional experiences to simplified figures capable of communicating across cultural and linguistic boundaries. Here, that idea is distilled to its essentials. There is no narrative setting and no secondary symbolism; the focus remains entirely on the interaction between the two forms.

Created through the Pop Shop venture, the print channels Haring's belief that art should exist beyond the confines of traditional gallery audiences. By producing editions such as Pop Shop II, he was able to place his imagery into wider circulation while maintaining the bold colours, vibrancy and visual style that defined his work. The portfolio remains one of the clearest expressions of this ambition, bringing together a group of images that were designed to be both visually striking and widely accessible.

With its flowing contours, vibrant palette and emphasis on human connection, Pop Shop II (D) demonstrates Haring's ability to communicate complex ideas through the simplest of means, creating an image that is both playful and deeply human.
