Keith Haring

Apocalypse 7 (Littmann P. 106) by Keith Haring compresses pig-headed figures and machine-like monsters into a single tightly packed frame, technology and menace occupying the same crowded space.
Made in 1988 in collaboration with the writer William Burroughs, whose fragmented texts accompany the ten-print Apocalypse portfolio, the series pulls Haring's imagery toward something closer to prophecy than street symbol. Apocalypse 7 sits at the more claustrophobic end of that shift — figures given no room to breathe, which is precisely the effect the compression is built to produce.
