Untitled (Love) by Keith Haring centres on two red dancing figures whose raised arms unite to form a heart shape above their heads, condensing ideas of intimacy, rhythm and human connection into one of Haring’s most direct and universally recognisable images.

Themes of love, celebration and collective experience appeared repeatedly throughout Haring’s work during the late 1980s, often expressed through simplified dancing figures and heart motifs. In Untitled (Love), the heart shape is generated entirely through the figures’ movement and interaction, allowing the symbol to emerge naturally from the work rather than functioning as a separate graphic device.

The work feels spontaneous, rhythmic and immediate, closely connected to the music, dance culture and atmosphere of downtown New York that informed much of Haring’s practice.

Untitled (Love) remains one of the strongest examples of Haring’s ability to translate movement, connection and optimism into a universally legible image. Through colour, rhythm and gesture alone, the work captures the immediacy and joyful energy that continue to define some of the artist’s most sought-after images.
