Keith Haring
38 x 38 in
Andy Mouse 3 (Littmann P. 64) by Keith Haring stages its hybrid figure — Warhol's features folded into Mickey Mouse's ears — inside an oval medallion at the centre of an oversized lime-green banknote, held aloft by two dancing figures in blue.
The banknote format does the argument's work without needing a caption: money, celebrity and image-making treated as the same currency. Haring grew up on Disney before he discovered graffiti, and that early debt to cartoon clarity shows in how legible the whole print remains despite the density of reference packed into it — Warhol's persona, the mouse ears, the dollar-bill framing, all reduced to the same clean black outline he used for a barking dog. It's tribute and send-up in the same breath, which is roughly how Haring treated Warhol throughout the friendship.
