Keith Haring
11 x 14 3/4 in
Untitled by Keith Haring (Littmann P. 74) presents a single red figure, its arms moving through its body and head and is set against a vivid background of blue.
The simplified form is constructed through Haring’s familiar: rounded limbs and flowing lines with minimal internal detail. The cartoon-like execution of the piece characterises Haring’s form which developed original on the streets of New York and became his signature style.
By 1987, Haring was refining his line into a more repeatable and widely accessible format, anticipating the aesthetic that would define his Pop Shop. The bold outlines, colour, and contained format reflect this shift, where imagery was conceived to operate across prints, posters, and commercial contexts without losing visual strength - thus the simplified forms.
