Pop Shop IV (A) (Littmann P. 146) by Keith Haring is part of the famed Pop Shop IV set - itself one of six Pop Shop sets the artist released during his career.

Set against a vivid red background, Haring;’s famous angel figure dominates the work with raised arms and radiating movement lines, while a smaller brown figure below appears to dance beneath it. The work captures the immediacy and rhythmic energy that defined Haring. Created as part of the Pop Shop IV series which emerged directly from Haring’s Pop Shop project in SoHo, the series and sets have became one of the purest expressions of Haring’s approach to his practice and belief that art should be for everyone.

Produced just one year before the artist’s death, Pop Shop IV (A) reflects the remarkable clarity and confidence of Haring’s use of colour and line. Bold, accessible and direct, the print demonstrates why the Pop Shop series remains one of the defining achievements of his career and among the most sought-after bodies of work within his editioned output.
